Introduction

Who am I?
I’m Mickaëlla, I’m 28 years old, and I have been living in Norway since 2019 with my husband and our 2 ½ years old daughter.
I discovered sewing during my pregnancy. With my husband we wanted our daughter to have hand-made clothes and textiles. And that’s how I learned, thanks to Internet, how to sew for her, to make her sleeping bags, small storage baskets, and sensory toys.
But because of a lack of a dedicated (and comfortable) space, I put away my machine before taking it out in 2021 with ideas overflowing in my head! And since then, I’m unstoppable, whether it be projects for my daughter, for the house, for my husband or myself!
In 2022, the idea of selling began to grow. There was a quick adventure on Etsy with trying to sell come handbags, but not very fruitful. However there was that desire to create, to sell things/objects to parents, for children somewhere in my head. And out of the blue, the first orders were there!
And there’s a strong motivation: I want to help other parents, to help make their daily life easier. I want to be useful through sewing in the way this was for us. I want to offer quality products, a quality that I would give/use for my daughter. Products that can reflect that love, that passion, that perseverance discovered throughout this craft.
What does “lova” means?
It means “legacy” in malagasy. While I was still discovering and learning about sewing, I had a conversation with my mother, she told me that my grand-mother was a dressmaker, that her father was a tailor, and her mother a dressmaker. My mom is not a sewing person, but she has a sewing machine and knows how to use it.
It appeared to me that sewing was in my blood, that it’s part of my legacy. And through my products, my craft, I wanted to pay tribute to my roots, my family, my grand-mother.
What are Lova studio’s values?
I want to share the acquired capacities, the competences, and that I’m still working on by the way, to help new parents (and those not so new) to organize their new daily life. Even if we all still need help with daily life! I want to suggest everyday products such as the essential bib, a bath towel or a blanket for example.
And I want to accomplish all of that using products that respect the environment, and in priority baby’s skin thanks to fabrics that are certified Oeko-tex 100 or GOTS. Oeko-tex 100 is an international label meaning that the fabric has been tested for harmful substances and that the article therefore does not harms human health. As for GOTS, Global Organic Textile Standard is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent third-party certification of the entire textile supply chain.
And all products will be made in Norway, and can be sent all over Europe.
Every product will be custom-made with all the care it deserves, taking into account the parent’s tastes, and with a unique personalization thanks to handmade embroidery with DMC threads.
